SMARTI ETN

SMARTI ETN is a research, innovation and training programme funded by the European Union under the Marie Curie Skłodowska actions for research, technological development and demonstration, under grant n.721493.
The programme brings together 15 Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) collaborating with more than 30 partners across industry and academia. They are all working towards SMARTening the transport system that includes roads, railways and airports.
The SMARTI acronym stands for Sustainable Multi-functional Automated Resilient Transport Infrastructures. The vision of the programme is based on four pillars. Sustainable infrastructures maximizing the re-use of secondary materials and minimizing the impact on the people on the planet. Multi-functional transport infrastructures conceived not for transport purposes only. Automated transport infrastructures with the capability of pro-active communication by monitoring. Resilient transport infrastructures able to adapt to changing conditions and self-repair.

The host intuitions of the ESRs are all in Europe (see Figure 1.) but the partners are worldwide.
